What Will “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” Be About?
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is a movie based on Suzanne Collins’s book. It’s a prequel, happening 64 years before the main series. While it focuses on President Coriolanus Snow’s background, it also introduces us to the early days of the deadly Hunger Games.
In this movie, we will follow a young Coriolanus Snow, who later becomes the main villain in the original Hunger Games trilogy. Furthermore, we will also be introduced to a tribute named Lucy Gray Baird. She is a musician and a performer from District 12. The movie explores how they are connected and how Coriolanus mentors Lucy Gray in the Hunger Games.

In the Hunger Games movies, it’s always thrilling to watch the real games. The first two movies had unique rules and locations for the games. From a glimpse in the trailer, it appears that The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will have indoor games, unlike the first two.

While none of the actors from the original Hunger Games cast will appear in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, the film will include younger versions of numerous recognizable characters from the previous Hunger Games movies. For example, you will see the likes of President Snow and his cousin, Tigris Snow. Furthermore, the rest of the cast is pretty star-studded, such as:

- Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird
- Peter Dinklage as Dean Casca Highbottom
- Hunter Schafer as the young version of Tigris Snow
- Josh Andrés Rivera as Sejanus Plinth
Other amazing cast who are going to play in the upcoming Hunger Games franchise are Jason Schwartzman and Viola Davis. Schwartzman will play as Games host Lucretius ‘Lucky’ Flickerman (related to Caesar Flickerman) and Davis as Dr. Volumnia Gaul, a.k.a the Head Gamemaker.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is scheduled to be released on November 17, 2023, by Lionsgate Films. So get prepared to buy some tickets if you want to see the games in theaters.
