This movie takes place 64 years before the first film. “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes follows the young Coriolanus Snow before he becomes the powerful and ruthless President of Panem. In the story, Coriolanus Snow is given the task of mentoring Lucy Gray Baird for the 10th annual Hunger Games. He’s amazed by her skills, and they use their political knowledge and charm to improve their chances of surviving both in the brutal Hunger Games and the schemes of Panem’s elite.

This is the first movie in the series. It introduces us to the heroine of the movie franchise, Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old girl living in Panem. She steps forward to replace her younger sister as a tribute in the 74th Hunger Games, an annual event where two tributes from each of Panem’s 12 districts must fight until only one remains.

Katniss, along with the local baker Peeta Mellark, is sent to the Capitol to participate in the deadly competition. She leaves behind her potential love interest, Gale, because of this. During the Games, she is guided by her alcoholic mentor, Haymitch Abernathy, and relies on her archery skills to survive the brutal challenges of the competition.

In “Catching Fire,” the story picks up after Katniss and Peeta’s victory in the previous Hunger Games. They are now living separately in District 12, hoping for a peaceful life. However, the Capitol has other plans, and President Snow announces a “Quarter Quell,” an All-Stars special edition of the Hunger Games featuring previous victors. This time, the tributes consist of former victors, some of whom are friends and many who are enemies.

In the third part of the series, we will see Katniss being saved from the ruined 75th Hunger Games arena and brought to District 13, a place separate from Panem. In District 13, there are rebels trying to overthrow the Capitol. President Alma Coin is the leader of the rebel team and she wants Katniss to be the symbol of their cause. Katniss is very worried and tries to find Peeta, who was taken by Panem and is being controlled on television.

#5 The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (2015)

The last movie in the series starts right where Part 1 ended. Katniss is still fighting in Coin’s war against the Capitol. She wants to be part of the rebels’ Star Squad and tries to reach out to a brainwashed Peeta. Katniss has a big challenge ahead, and she’s still the symbol of hope for the rebels. The big question is whether they can sneak into President Snow’s stronghold and stop his dictatorship.
